Our thank you for captain Schumann and his team !!Ĭhecked out the reviews on Trip Advisor before going. We are looking forward to come back again. The lower level of the boat would be perfect for people with dogs -its not sunny and on the front of the boat are small "windows " for dogs THEY ARE PET FRIENDLY ! But be responsible have your dog on leash and hold him do not let him fell over to the water, make sure you let your dog to go pee and poop before the long trip and have container of water for your dog with you. They also took care of your doggy -they have a life jackets for your dogs. When you go on that boat you really feel they take care of people there ,not just taking your money like others, beside that boat is very clean including restrooms. Īlso you can feed the seagulls from the boat ,its amazing they will eat from your hands ,do not worry if you do not have bread for birds - captain Schumann`s team took care of it ,they will offer it to you for free. Beside that do not worry you will be not hungry during the trip-captain Schumann took care of it- he will treat you with fresh hot testy pizza and hot dogs for free and large variety of snacks and drinks only for $1.00. You also will enjoy nice music from Enya which is very suitable for such marine trip. Captain Schumann has many interesting stories and information that he will share while you are on the boat, beside that he is very knowledgeable, friendly and nice to answer any of your questions. The cruise is long enough to enjoy seeing dolphins, turtles, birds and of corse to enjoy magnificent views from the boat. Its really so good and pleasant to deal with captain Schumann and his team that this year we went for dolphin watching two times in row in the same day- for noon and evening trip :) ALWAYS WE HAVE AN EXELLENT EXPERIENCE on his BIG BLUE CRUISER. This year again my husband, myself and our dearest little dachshund -doggy had a very good time on captain Schumann`s beautiful comfortable and very clean boat. But was it a 2-3 hour dolphin AND whale watching cruise? No.Īnd on a "helpful tip" note - there is ample street parking in the area - the captain and crew are waiting out by the curb and can help direct you to legal spots (in case you aren't sure). Did we enjoy looking at the wetlands? Sure. So.Was it a pleasant way to spend the last morning of our vacation? Yes. My kids kept asking why we were heading back so quickly and not looking for whales, since that's what the cruise description had promised. No attempt was made to cruise a little further out to open sea or up/down shoreline to look for whales (which obviously are not prone to frolicking 40 feet from the beach like dolphins), and the only way this could have claimed to be an up to 3 hour cruise is if they'd actually spent another 5 to 60 minutes trying to find whales. it was a 45 minute cruise from the dock through the wetlands to a point juuuuuuust outside the inlet mouth, where we stayed close to shore after we pretty quickly spotted some dolphins.and then after about 15 minutes of oohs and aahs, with that mission accomplished, the ship turned right back around and went back to the dock through the wetlands for another 45 minutes. BUT.the trip was not a 2-3 hour cruise looking for dolphins and whales. Is that bad? No of course not - my kids were very happy to see a few pods. OK, I know that wild animals can't be forced to appear anywhere however, it is clear from the trip we took that the sole purpose of this cruise was to find dolphins, period. The very back of the boat is nice but you'll smell a lot more gas fumes. Keep your eyes on the water! If you don't mind standing and want the best view, hold on to the rail and snag the front of the boat. kids!) or else you are much more likely to get nauseous out on the ocean. Tips: Do not spend too much time looking at your cell phone (esp. I only wish that they didn't allow smoking on the boat. I didn't ask about alcohol, but they have beer for $4 and sodas, water, and snacks for $1 each! Very friendly staff, and they even offered free hot dogs. We were allowed to bring our own snacks and water. The price was very reasonable (check the internet for coupons!) and I loved that they didn't try to rip off their customers like other businesses. I had hoped that they would come closer to the boat, but you can't control nature. You will see plenty of dolphins, however. Whales are rare to spot in this area no matter what cruise you choose. As long as you don't go on this cruise expecting to see whales, you won't be disappointed. We went on a weekday afternoon in July and it wasn't crowded at all.
